Zenith Electrical and Industrial Supply Corporation, in partnership with Emerson’s Appleton Group, held its first forum dubbed as Technical Forum: A Discussion on NEC/IEC Standards last July 9, 2015 in the Emerson Integrated Solutions Center, Quezon City.

Despite the heavy rains, the forum was well attended by over fifty engineers and electrical practitioners from refinery, food & beverage, packaging, petrochemical, cold storage, manufacturing companies and other related industries.

The forum centered on the discussion of hazardous area mapping and classifications as well as electrical safety standards, NEC and IEC. It aimed to emphasize the priority focus on prevention of accidents as part of every electrical practitioner’s contribution to safety through consistent compliance with one standard and right selection of quality electrical products for different hazardous areas (both for maintenance requirements or construction of new facilities).

Engr. Alex Olano, the current Chapter President of IIEE Western Batangas (Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines) was the keynote speaker of the forum and has generously shared his expertise on the subject matter backed up with some practical tips gained through his wide experience in the electrical field.

The first ever technical forum concluded with some demonstration and showcase of different products to supplement the technical information shared during the discussion.

The attendees gained a better understanding of the importance of hazardous mapping in their work environment, proper design and installation of electrical products that comply to safety standards.

The technical forum’s message of “Safety Saves Lives” is in line with Zenith Electrical’s corporate philosophy of providing value in products and services.
